“BEST OF TIMES III” ITINERARY FOR JUNE 3-6, 2010
You do not have to be a graduate to attend these events. Anyone whoever darkened the doors of "Old LHS" are welcome.


Any particular outside event (except Golf) that is rained out will be held at the Campbell County High School at the scheduled time of the event




THURSDAY, JUNE 3, 2010

Golf Tournament:--a fun time with friends not a fund raiser so the fee will be nominal and prizes small. Contact: L.C. Madron or 865-426-6832

Sock Hop:--Thurs. evening 7 P.M. in the basement of the old "Lyons Building". Cliff Jennings will be the DJ. Come out and enjoy the "oldies".




FRIDAY, JUNE 4, 2010

Registration--at the LaFollette Recreation Center beginning at 10 A.M. - 4 P.M. and continuing at the White Bridge Mixer at 6 P.M. –Along with your name badge you will receive a complimentary bag of “free stuff”

A Bunching-- gathering of friends (hanging out) for the fun of it to share hugs, have lunch or catch up. Recorded music from the 1950s, 60s and 70s -just listen or take a few turns on the dance floor.

Date: Friday, June 4, 2010
Time: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Cove Lake State Park Pavilion; Caryville, TN
Facility is provided by the LHS Classes of 1959 & 1960. Fun brown bag lunch available on site for nominal fee.

All alumni are invited to add to the fun with spontaneous live music, games, videos, etc.

Parrott Brothers Band-- will play from 8 P.M. until 11 P.M.

Food vendors will be available with a variety of offerings along with souvenier LHS Owl T-shirts/hats

"Cooking With Class Cookbook" will be on sale

Tents/tables will be set up for each class so that alumni can sign in and “hook up” with classmates. The tents will serve as “headquarters” for each class.

SATURDAY, JUNE 5, 2010 HAPPENINGS DOWNTOWN LAFOLLETTE

9:30 A.M.--Parade --along with Parade of Classes—Alumni who want to march with
their class meet about 9 A.M. at Cross’ Funeral Home—This includes the cheerleader group). Class Banners will be provided for each class. Parade will end in front of the “Old Post Office”

10 A.M. Welcome Speech-- by Tom Stiner--Stage at Central and TN

Street vendors will be selling everything from food to souvenirs

Performers on stage throughout the day

T.V. screens to show videos of LaFollette High School events, downtown parades, and interesting old photos of years past

Interviews with alumni attending the reunion

Class tents/tables will be set up in Seargeant Park where alumni can congregate with classmates

5:30 P.M.-- Parrott Brothers Band

8 – 12 P.M. Soul Connection-- (same band as performed in 2005) will perform for great listening and dancing in the street




SUNDAY, JUNE 6, 2010

8:30 A.M. Continental Breakfast-- to be served at the LaFollette Municipal Building

10 A.M. Closing Ceremonies-- will be held across the street in Sargeant's Park

Ministers who graduated from LaFollette High will be invited to participate. Contact David Shepherd

Community Choir--All/any alumni are welcomed to participate. Contact Geneva Gearing at 423-562-7091 and Martha “Sugar” Cain Freeman. I hear the choir practices are going great and they are having so much fun. However, if you are from out of town, you don't need to attend any practices in order to participate. I'm told we'll be pleasantly surprised at their production.

Deceased classmates will be remembered.

Byrge Screen Printing will be selling souvenir LHS OWL T-shirts and Hats at the Sock Hop on Thursday, June 3 and at Registration on Friday, June 4 and continuing downtown on Saturday, June 5. If you should happen to be in LaF earlier that week, you can stop at their store at 225 E. Central (across from where Carl Pierce’s store was) to shop for them prior to the events.

The LaF Press will be adding an insert into that week’s Press Edition highlighting /showcasing LaFollette High School Reunion. Be sure to pick one up at a local merchant.

Shirley (Kitts) Davis will be selling a new cookbook “Cooking With Class—Vol. II” that contains 580 recipes from LHS Alumni/Friends, 64 black and white photos (most from back in the day) and 15 color photos which showcase the beauty in Campbell County.

Some of the recipes will be from favorites such as Laxton's Original Slaw recipe, Hamburger King's Steak and Gravy, Colonial Restaurant's Coconut Cream Pie. Also included in the cookbook, you will find S & W's Chess Pie, Regas' Red Velvet Cake, Pizza Palace's Black Bottom Pie, Calhoun's Spinach Maria and last but not least....THE POOL ROOM HOT DOG RECIPE IS BACK!!! Each book is $15. All proceeds benefit the Ken Bruce Scholarship Fund at Campbell County High School.
